Genevieve (“Geny”) De Guzman grew up in Hong Kong and holds a Bachelor’s in Building Engineering and Management from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. With almost half a decade of teaching experience across English literacy, mathematics, and science, she combines a love of discovery with a structured, analytical approach to learning. Her engineering background shapes her ability to break down complex concepts into manageable, logical steps, helping students build genuine understanding rather than relying on rote memorization.
Geny’s teaching philosophy centers on empathy, clarity, and meeting students exactly where they are. Recognizing that true growth requires both challenge and a safe space to stretch beyond one’s comfort zone, she approaches each lesson without assumptions about prior knowledge. She systematically covers foundational skills so that every child feels secure in their progress. Having earned a top score (L5) in HKDSE English Writing, she draws on her own academic journey to mentor students—balancing high standards with the warmth and encouragement of a trusted guide. Parents and students alike appreciate her ability to build confidence, foster independence, and rekindle intrinsic curiosity.
Outside the classroom, Geny stays curious and grounded through reading history and fiction, painting landscapes and animals, and pushing her personal limits through strength training, running, and CrossFit. She is glad to contribute to a learning culture that values academic rigor alongside authentic personal development.
