Lenore Look‘s next two books are scheduled to be released in 2027 and 2028, by Greenwillow Books/HarperCollins. One of the upcoming titles is her first book set in Hong Kong. She is the author of numerous award-winning books for young readers, including the popular Alvin Ho series and Brush of the Gods, a Wall Street Journal Children’s Book of the Year. All her works feature Chinese or Asian-American protagonists and their families. Her essays have appeared in numerous anthologies including The Best American Essays, and most recently she wrote about China’s Red Guards in 1968: Today’s Authors Explore a Year of Rebellion, Revolution & Change (Candlewick Press).
Lenore graduated from Princeton University with a BA in Politics. She began her career as a reporter at the Los Angeles Times, followed by work at newspapers on both coasts in the United States. She has also worked as a political speechwriter.
Lenore has taught creative writing at Drew University in Madison, New Jersey, as a Writer-in-Residence, and also at the College of Saint Elizabeth, also in Madison. She has taught high journalism and creative writing at Saint Joseph’s School for the Blind in Jersey City, New Jersey, and ESL at the Ziluolan Elementary School in Shanghai, China. She is also a popular speaker at schools and conferences throughout the U.S., the Middle East and Asia.
Lenore discovered her love for hiking and tolerance for pain and suffering in high places during the COVID-19 pandemic, and has since completed her Basic Mountaineering Course in the Himalayas. She is also a certified international river guide.
