STEM math is different from traditional mathematics in several ways.

 

First, kids are learning more advanced math at younger ages with introductory algebra and geometry introduced in project-based lessons, starting as early as the third grade for some students.  Such STEM math projects and problems are interdisciplinary as they incorporate science, technology, and engineering to mathematics.
