Objectives and Benefits
The aim of this workshop is to inspire and develop confidence, creativity and imagination in students. Students come to have fun, and learn about the art and skills of performing. At the center of all drama is communication. Through performing lines and adopting new roles, students learn to express themselves articulately and to understand others from new perspectives in a fun environment. While learning to engage others, children also learn how to put themselves in other people’s shoes.
Improvisational and role-play exercises in this workshop will offer students the chance to experiment with practical aspects of communication – body language, voice, facial expressions, and space – and to develop spontaneity and creativity. We encourage students to speak confidently in front of an audience and help them become more persuasive in their communication.
Students will be given the opportunity for creative collaboration; for example, to create their own commercial from scratch. Through various collaborative activities, they will be encouraged to listen to and accept the views and contribution of others. Drama is a useful tool for preparing students to live and work in a world that is increasingly team-oriented, and where incorporating and adapting to feedback are essential skills to have.
Most of all, it’s loads of fun!
